The Fulton House

Built on a floating barge in 1880, The Fulton House welcomed many a gentleman guest to enjoy the company of the ladies who worked there under the careful scrutiny of Nancy Boggs. Should the local sheriff decide to raid the business, Nancy, watching from her rooftop perch, simply floated her ‘house’ across the Willamette river.

But now that is all just ‘water under the bridge’.

The home was moved to its present site in the 1930’s and now the beautifully restored Fulton House welcomes all travelers from near and far to experience just a hint of days gone by.

Enjoy the scenic horizon from Nancy’s Boggs’ perch on the roof, imagine the view of 1880’s Fulton commerce from the second floor porch, or relax in the tranquil garden, both enduring and timeless, while you sip a glass of spirits. A gentle reminder of days long gone.

Oh if this house could talk….

Beauty in every room.

The Fulton House is defined by its uniqueness, and our guest rooms are no exception. We have four charming rooms, no two exactly alike. All have private baths and wireless internet access. A complimentary breakfast is also included.

The Fulton House is located in the historic neighborhood of SW Portland called John’s Landing.

John’s Landing is named for B.P. John’s Furniture Company, which once held its headquarters on the corner of Macadam & Boundary. Among the largest companies occupying the industrial South Waterfront, B.P. John’s Furniture Company closed in 1977, after almost 90 years of existence. Coincidentally, legendary Portland developers John W. Storrs & John D. Gray (who would eventually develop Bend & the Oregon Coast into destination retreats) transformed the area into a residential & commercial neighborhood, decades ahead of the Pearl District’s famous Cinderella redevelopment.
